Peekimo Instructions: How to Play & Get Started

Learn how to get started with Peekimo, understand its basic interactions, check the box contents and find reliable help with care and progression.

Start with the quick-start guide in the box, then use Peekimo's touch and voice interactions to build its trust. Spin Master describes tapping, swiping the touch bar and speaking to the pet as the basic ways to interact. Its pod lights signal mood, and nurturing play leads toward BFF status and five games.

This guide explains that basic play loop and helps you organize the first session. It is not a replacement for the control diagrams supplied with your exact toy. We could verify the advertised interactions, but not a complete manufacturer instruction sheet, precise activation sequence or full game-control chart. Where that matters, we direct you to the original sheet rather than guess.

What comes with a Peekimo?

Spin Master's product information lists the pet, a lanyard, a carabiner ring, a quick-start guide and an instruction sheet. A single AAA battery is advertised as included. Keep both paper guides: the short one helps you begin, while the full sheet is the place to check detailed controls and warnings. Manufacturer product information.

Before discarding the packaging, locate the model number and photograph it for your own reference. This makes a later support request easier, especially if a retailer uses a different item number. Keep the receipt separately if you may need help from the seller.

For a gift, include the original instructions rather than giving only the toy. A second-hand owner should obtain the matching sheet before attempting unfamiliar button combinations. Do not assume a control described for another electronic pet will work here.

A sensible first-session checklist

1. Read the setup illustration first

Find the activation or power section on the supplied guide. Follow any packaging-removal and power instructions shown there. We have not verified a universal battery-tab or switch sequence, so this page does not tell every owner to pull a tab, hold a button for a specific number of seconds or use an undocumented mode.

Have an adult handle any battery-compartment task. Check the battery type and orientation against the markings and instructions. If the supplied battery is exhausted, use the replacement specified for that model. Our troubleshooting guide explains how to separate a power problem from a play question.

2. Put the toy somewhere you can observe it

For the first few interactions, choose a clear surface and reduce competing noise. This is a practical learning suggestion, not a manufacturer requirement. It helps you notice whether a sound or movement follows a particular input.

Start with one person interacting. Several people tapping and talking at once make it harder to tell which action produced a response. Give the child time to watch the pet instead of racing through every input.

3. Try one documented interaction at a time

Locate the touch bar using the guide's diagram. Try the demonstrated input, observe the response and then move on to another. Keep hands and objects away from moving parts. Do not pull the character out to make it emerge.

A first session should answer simple questions: does the toy react, can you identify its touch surface, and do you know where to check its signals? You do not need to unlock every feature immediately to establish that basic play is working.

How do the basic interactions work?

The confirmed high-level controls are touch and voice. Spin Master's Peekimo overview describes a shy pet that emerges as friendship develops. Its advertised reactions are a reason to explore different inputs, not a promise that the same input always creates the same movement.

Interaction What the source establishes Where to check the exact action
Tap A supported way to interact The supplied touch-bar illustration
Swipe the touch bar A supported way to interact The direction and care diagrams in the sheet
Speak The toy responds to voice The manufacturer's play demonstration
Observe the pod lights Lights signal mood and needs The model's printed mood chart

For more specific care actions, Julia DeKorte's independent People of Play report describes tapping to feed and swiping to cuddle. That is reported guidance rather than a manufacturer control sheet. Check the matching diagram before treating a gesture as a complete instruction.

Do not equate a voice response with understanding arbitrary spoken commands. The fact that a toy reacts to speech does not establish speech recognition, a voice assistant or a connection to an online service. This guide makes no claim about those systems.

Use the official play demonstration

Spin Master's brand page links a Peekimo how-to video. A demonstration can be easier to follow than a short retailer description. Watch the control being used, then compare it with the sheet that came with the toy.

We link to the video instead of automatically embedding it. It opens on YouTube only when you choose to visit; the guide itself does not load a video player.

Understand mood, care and progression

Mood signals are part of play. They are different from the permanent color of the pod you purchased. A blue toy can display another light color; buying blue is not selecting a permanent relaxed mood. The mood-light guide explains the meanings independently reported so far and the limits of the available chart.

When you see a care prompt, match it to the original instruction sheet rather than inventing a real-world action. “Feeding” an electronic pet is a play interaction. It does not mean placing actual food in the pod. Likewise, care language is not permission to use water, heat or tools.

Progression is another separate question. A pet may respond correctly while some games remain unavailable. Spin Master's advertising connects nurturing with reaching BFF status, but does not establish a universal minutes-to-unlock target. See how the five-game progression is described before treating a locked feature as a fault.

Help a child learn without turning play into a test

A useful approach is to name the input and notice the result together: “That was a swipe; what happened?” This is a learning suggestion, not a rule programmed into the toy. Leave room for exploration rather than asking the child to reproduce a reaction perfectly.

If the same response does not appear twice, first check the current play context. A care action and a game action may be different questions. The instructions are the reference for what should happen in the active mode.

Wearing, storing and caring for the toy

Read the accessory warnings before using the lanyard or clip. Attaching a toy to a bag is different from wearing a cord during active play; consider what could snag. Remove wearable accessories for sleep or situations where they may catch, and follow the package's specific precautions.

Keep the toy away from liquids unless its exact instructions authorize a particular use. Do not rely on an isolated retailer claim of water resistance to justify immersion. Avoid prying the pod, pulling the character or putting objects into openings.

Store the paperwork where it can be found again. A small envelope with the model number and both guides is more useful than trying to remember a reset instruction months later. For longer storage and battery removal, follow the manufacturer's directions.

When something does not respond

First describe the symptom. Is there no light or sound at all, does touch work while voice seems ineffective, or is a game unavailable even though normal play works? Those observations point to different next steps.

Do not repeatedly perform guessed resets. We have not verified their effect on progress. Use the troubleshooting guide for a careful check order, then ask Spin Master support for the matching instructions if the issue remains.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a second Peekimo?

A second toy is advertised for interaction between pets, but the manufacturer does not list buying another as a prerequisite for the basic five-game feature. Check the original sheet for the specific social-play procedure.

Does pink, purple or blue change how I start?

The advertised core features are shared. We have not established a special setup sequence for one exterior color. See the color comparison and follow the sheet supplied with your unit.

Can this guide replace a lost manual?

It can explain the basic play concept and point you to reliable help. It cannot replace an unverified control diagram or safety sheet. Request the exact-model instructions from the manufacturer.
